Grafton Notch State Park and the Mahoosuc Public Lands are located in some of Maine's most beautiful mountains, the Mahoosuc Range. This park is a great place for a backcountry hike or a long day of sightseeing. Part of the Appalachian Trail winds through this area.

Rushing waterfalls and deep gorges are some of the geography that makes this park special. Even if you just want to take a simple hike, you can see fantastic views of the gorges and waterfalls. Birdwatching, cross-country skiing, fishing, hiking, hunting, picnicking, snowmobiling and wildlife observation are a few of the popular activities at this diverse park.

Directions

The primary trailhead for the Park is located near the New Hampshire border along Route 26, approximately 14 miles north of Bethel. Access is also available along the Sunday River Road (west off Routes 2/26 about 2 miles north of Bethel); the Success Pond Road (northeast out of Berlin, NH); the Bull Branch Road (east off Sunday River Road in North Newry); and the East B. Hill Road (west out of Andover).<br /><br />To reach Frenchman's Hole, take the Sunday River Road north of Bethel for 7 miles to the twin bridges in Ketchum. Turn right and proceed north 1 mile.
